Travel & Accommodation

Location & Travel

The Mercedes Benz Downhill World Cup and 4X Pro Tour take place at the UK’s spiritual home of mountain biking’s gravity disciplines – The Nevis Range Ski Area, just outside Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. This is the World Cup Village – the loud, lively, beating heart of the whole event.

The postcode is PH33 6SQ, which will get you to the Nevis Range access road – but there is limited parking and restricted access on the race weekend.

Because of the remoteness public transport is a bit limited but there are bus services and train services into Fort William. Once in Fort William there is a World Cup shuttle bus system.

Parking & Shuttle

There is no public parking at the Nevis Range ski area (the World Cup Village). The nearest public parking is at the Rural Complex on the Nevis Range access road, about 1km from the venue, with a £5 charge per vehicle. Alternatively head for the free Park and Ride site at the Blar Mhor and take the shuttle bus in to the venue.

Shuttle buses run to and from Fort William, the Blar Mhor Park and Ride and Spean Bridge all day on Saturday & Sunday.

Bike Friendly

The World Cup weekend is all about bikes, so what better way to travel to the venue, especially if staying in Fort William. There is a marked cycleway all the way from Fort William to Nevis Range, with a dedicated bike-park right at the entrance to the World Cup Village.

Fort William is a big visitor destination that is especially busy in the summer months. It has a wide range of accommodation but early booking is recommended. A number of popular campsites have plenty of capacity.

Remember that the World Cup venue is 9km from Fort William, but there is a regular shuttle bus system in addition to the Park and Ride.
