On 3 & 4 June the world of gravity mountain biking descends on its spiritual home – Fort William in the Scottish Highlands.
With the two reigning UCI Downhill World Champions, Danny Hart and Rachel Atherton, both Brits, Fort William 2017 will most definitely be the Home of the Brave.
Danny Hart (MS Mondraker Team) ended the 2016 World Cup season in dominating form – with three World Cup wins and a second UCI World Championship title. But, he has yet to take the win in Fort William. Could this be the year?
He recently took a break from training to help launch Fort William 2017 – complete with sword, non-UCI approved helmet and piper. A morning spent clambering over rocks in Edinburgh delivered some great shots for the papers as well as highlighting one of the major stars coming to Fort William this June.

The 2017 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup season hits the dirt and steeps of Lourdes in under 2 weeks. That’s when we’ll see how the team changes, new equipment and off-season training affects the results. The ebb and flow of performances amongst the top riders is what makes all sport exciting and there is no doubt there is another very exciting season ahead of us.
All World Cups will be shown live on Red Bull TV, but to get you in the mood, Red Bull have released a number of videos highlighting the season to come. Book your seat in front of your TV or web friendly device now.
A particularly mild winter in Scotland was tough for skiers and snowboarders – but has benefited mountain biking. Nevis Range is opening the World Cup Downhill and Red Giant XC trails 3 weeks earlier than usual. For full details go to bike.nevisrange.co.uk.
