Local to Fort William Lachlan Blair has received his Jersey and will be riding in the first ever Junior category of the MTB World Cup at Fort William. He’s 17 and sponsored by Exempt Clothing, Nevis Cycles and Nevis Range.
His mum Lisa, who works in the T-hut at Nevis Range in the winter, was also working at the first Mountain Bike World Cup event at Nevis Range. Lachlan, who would have been 5 at the time, arrived in tow with no option other than to watch the racing. He started off with a XC bike but, since watching the racing at the first Fort William World Cup, he’d always wanted to ride DH so went on to buy his first DH bike a second hand Giant with his pocket money for £500 when we was 11.
He’s now riding DH in the Scottish and British circuits – he was 6th at the Saracen BDS round 2 in Fort William last weekend. Also riding Enduro style races, he won his category in the UK Gravity Enduro – Rd2 Innerleithen, earlier this year and he’ll be riding in the SDA, Glencoe this weekend.
