We usually kick off the main push to the Fort William weekend with a media photocall – which is why two leading Scots riders were clambering over a 4m high bike in sunny Clydebank a few weeks ago.
Greg Williamson, from Inverness, impressed everyone with a couple of outstanding results in 2012, including a 17th in Fort William. He’s been signed up by Trek World Racing – a team that has proved it can spot a top rider.
Ruaridh Cunningham (Stow) has been troubled by a host of injuries since his barnstorming win in the 2007 Junior World Championships in Fort William but he’s fighting fit now and in 2013 he’ll be riding with the Unior Tools Team.
They were happy to smile, pose and jump in aid of the World Cup – using the Bankie’s Bike sculpture as a literal reminder of the two-wheeled festival coming to Fort William in June.
