Mini Downhill hits World Cup

There’s a new event for young riders as part of the World Cup Weekend – a Youth Mini Downhill Race. The race will be on the Saturday and will be a fantastic opportunity for young riders to put their downhill MTB skills to the test against the clock in front of an international audience.

Riders will have two timed runs on the short course close to the Village with the best/fastest time being used to decide who is the winner. All riders will race the same course with results for boys and girls in each of the 4 age categories.

The event is open to riders aged 8-16 years old (based on their age on 1 January 2011), who are able to ride blue/red graded trails.

Competitors don’t need a fancy Downhill bike but it must have brakes that work and be suitable for riding off road. A full face helmet and full finger gloves are compulsory.

The course is mostly single track using parts of the red World Champs Cross Country circuit. Although the course does not contain any mandatory jumps or drop offs, riders should be able to ride blue/easy red trails with confidence.
