Gwinn and Atherton dominate in Val di Sole

The USA’s Aaron Gwin and Britain’s Rachel Atherton blew their competitors away with runs that put them 7 and 4 seconds respectively ahead of the opposition.

On a course as rough and rooty as they come, Gwin’s lead was remarkable, pushing Greg Minnaar (RSA) and Gee Atherton (GBR) into second and third, with Marc Beaumont 4th and Danny Hart 6th.

Rachel celebrated the Queen’s Jubilee by pushing 4 French riders off the top step of the podium.

All roads from northern Italy now lead to northern Scotland as the rigs, vans, trucks and buses start the long haul across Europe to Fort William. Will this be Aaron’s first win on the Aonach Mor course?

Get yourself to Fort William to find out.
