Fort William Mountain Bike World Cup ticket sales reach new peak
- Pre-event ticket sales up 15 per cent for this year’s UCI Fort William Mountain Bike World Cup (June 3 – 4, 2017)
- Closing date for Advanced Event Ticket Sales with Gondola Pass announced
With just two weeks to go until the Scottish Highlands gears up for the return of the UCI Fort William Mountain Bike World Cup, organisers have announced that pre-event ticket sales have hit a new high.
Taking place over the weekend of June 3 and 4, advanced ticket sales for the award-winning Fort William Mountain Bike World Cup and BUFF® 4X Pro Tour are up 15 per cent compared to last year.
The 2016 weekend saw a record crowd of around 22,000 fans at the only UK leg of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, which won global recognition after scooping the Best Downhill World Cup award from the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale).
This year promises to be another action-packed event when more than 250 of the sport’s biggest stars from across the world, including 2016 Downhill World Champions, British riders Danny Hart and Rachel Atherton, compete navigating rock, ruts and jumps down the slopes of Aonach Mor.
With thousands of fans set to arrive over the course of the weekend, event organisers, Rare Management and Nevis Range, are reminding fans to buy their tickets early to avoid disappointment.
The closing date for purchasing advanced event tickets with gondola access will end this coming Wednesday 24th May at 11pm. Due to unprecedented demand for tickets, spectators buying tickets on the day of the event will not be able to purchase gondola passes which transport spectators to the start line.
Mike Jardine from Rare Management, said: “It’s fantastic that the Fort William Mountain Bike World Cup has grown in popularity as a must-see event for all the family on the UK sporting calendar. We’ve had another phenomenal response to ticket sales this time round and want to encourage fans to purchase their tickets early as due to the unprecedented number of tickets sold, spectators will not be able to purchase a gondola pass on the day of the event.
“We’ve got the two World Champions, Danny and Rachel, leading the home charge in Fort William this year, so the chance of British winners has never been better. This year will no doubt be another unforgettable mountain bike experience.”
The event, which is supported by EventScotland, part of VisitScotland’s Events Directorate, and Highland Council, is the second stage on the UCI World Cup Downhill calendar. As well as catching the downhill action, fans will be able to enjoy the Team and Expo area packed full of bike manufacturers, the latest bike-wear brands and team sponsors, alongside demonstrations and displays, to keep everyone entertained.
