Fort William goes East

In September, Guiyang in China held a Cross Country test event, with a view to applying for a future Mountain Bike World Cup. The UCI appointed Fort William organisers Rare Management as consultants to help the Chinese organisation prepare and run the event. This involved regular commutes to Guiyang and a team of 5 Fort William regulars working at the event, including a course team of 3 who created a weather-proof 4km course in 8 days – with the help of 50 hard working local labourers.

The project was a great success, with amazing ceremonies and an incredible level of city branding so the chances of a future Chinese World Cup are looking good.
