Advance Traffic Warning – Saturday 9 June
June 8, 2012
Forewarned is forearmed, so here’s some news that is important for anyone travelling up the A82 from Glasgow on Saturday 9 June. The Olympic Torch Relay is setting off from Dumbarton around 9.00am, travelling up the A82 to Fort William, arriving at 1.30pm. The Olympic Torch Relay contains over 100 vehicles and it will travel at a maximum of 40mph between stops.
Anyone heading north after the convoy has set off will face a very slow trip with no chance of overtaking. So, make sure you are past Dumbarton before 09.00 – or consider going up the A9 and across to Spean Bridge from Dalwhinnie.
Most World Cup visitors will be in the Village well before the Torch convoy hits Fort William so will avoid any traffic disruption. Just enjoy the day and let the Torch come and see us, for a photo shoot before the start of the DH qualification.
